| Whether your paint job is original, a refinish, 2 years old, 10 years old, or 20 years old, it still needs to be maintained properly!
The best thing you can do for your cars paint is keep it waxed! Different waxes and polishes make different claims as to how long they last. To determine if your automobile needs a fresh coat of wax, just notice how water behaves on its surface. If water readily beads up and rolls off in beads, then your paint is well protected. If the water begins sheeting and spreading across your car's paint, then it is time to wax! We recommend waxing at least every 6 months.
Always use car wash soap. Other soaps, like dish soap, are designed to strip wax and grease buildup-the very thing that protects your cars finish!
Here are a few simple instructions on how to care for your fresh paint work:
Do not wash car with detergent within 30 days after your paint work is completed. When necessary during the first thirty days, hose vehicle down with cool water only, and wipe down with a soft cloth so as not to leave water spots.
After the initial 30 day period you may then wash your vehicle with a car wash detergent, rinse well and wipe down with a soft cloth. Do not use dish soap or any other soap not designed for automotive use. Only car soap is formulated so that it does not strip off the wax and protective sealants and polishes from your vehicles paint.
After 60 days, purchase any good grade of liquid wax or any soft paste wax.
Wax car for 2-3 weeks consecutively to build wax for surface protection.
Water will form in large beads on a well protected vehicle surface. Protect your investment by waxing your car as necessary to insure the protection you need from the elements. |
